Delta Gamma
Welcome to our website! I hope you will find it represents all that is Delta Gamma, Kappa Chapter. The women of Delta Gamma are truly some of the most inspiring individuals I have ever met. Our Fraternity motto **Do Good,** is a simple reminder to all members of what we stand for. You can find DGs *doing good* in every corner of the University of Nebraska Lincoln campus and out in the community.
Our motto transfers to every aspect of DG life including sisterhood, scholarship, service and leadership. In my perspective, sisters who laugh together stay together. Participating in movie nights, group Zumba sessions, professional photo shots, ski trips and themed socials is the norm for us. However, saying DGs work hard academically is an understatement. Members take scholarship very seriously. It is easier and more enjoyable to put in the hours to ace a huge test with the support of Delta Gamma. Service is an integral part of DG life as well. Volunteering opportunities such as reading to the blind and handing out with our friends at the nursing home are available weekly. In addition, Delta Gamma can be seen supporting the JDRF Diabetes Walk and the American Cancer Society*s Relay for Life. Delta Gamma is a house full of leaders and very involved individuals. I am proud to say that DGs hold numerous leadership positions in organizations and societies at UNL. Our members also travel the world in life-changing study abroad programs. Having women in diverse organizations on and off campus creates a depth of experience and insights to share.
What makes Delta Gamma so special to me is not our motto, ideals or the anchor symbol I proudly wear but the amazing women I have the privilege to surround myself with. There is no mold or cookie cutter to produce the ultimate DG sister, for every member has something new and unique to offer. These women at Kappa Chapter have inspired me to become the best version of myself possible. I can walk down the halls of the chapter house and find girls creating beautiful artwork, studying for the LSAT, singing along to the latest GLEE hit, or suiting up to train for a half marathon. There is never a dull moment with these women.
Delta Gamma Sisters become family, and the chapter house a home away from home. Whether it be an endless study session or a snow day, a first date or a heartache, formal primping or sweatpants lounging, the worst days or the best days, I find that one does not have to go far to find a loving and helpful DG hand to guide them through all life has to offer. Although we are together for a short four years, the memories and bonds will truly last a lifetime.
Delta Gamma, a national women's fraternity with 147 collegiate chapters and 228 alumnae groups, offers to women of all ages a rich heritage based on principles of personal integrity, personal responsibility and intellectual honesty. Its primary purpose is to foster high ideals of friendship, promote educational and cultural interests, create a true sense of social responsibility and develop the finest qualities of character.
